Frequently Asked Questions
General Questions
What makes Cross Creek different from the other Florida RV Resorts?
Cross Creek is owned by a small company based right here in South Florida. We take great pride in being available with a “hands on” policy, and are actively involved in making Cross Creek the best place to hang your hat for the winter.
How big are the lots?
ALL of Cross Creek’s RV sites are at least 39′ wide by 75′ deep. Each site has up to 125 amp electric service available, a 12′ x 36′ concrete patio and paved parking for two automobiles (or one car and a golf cart).
What types of vehicles are allowed?
Only commercially manufactured motor homes, fifth wheels, travel trailers and park model homes that are in good condition and use full hook ups will be accepted. We do not permit vans, buses, truck campers, hi-lows, pop-up campers or tents.
Is your resort age restricted?
The short answer is “Yes.” However, that does not mean that everyone needs to be 55 or older.
What’s the day-to-day atmosphere like?
Very, very friendly. Time and time again, people tell us they return to Cross Creek because it’s so easy to get involved and to make friends here. Our residents are very proud of the property, and the ongoing camaraderie that exists each winter is contagious! You simply have to check this place out and experience it for yourself.
When should I arrive?
Please plan your arrival prior to 4:00 p.m.
Where do we park?
Each RV site has paved parking for two vehicles. Please do not park on the grass or in streets at any time, and ask your guests to use our special guest parking areas.
When it’s time to sell or rent out our unit what should we do?
Our sales office will be happy to help. (For assistance, call Barb Smith at 309.696.8607). If you sell on your own, be sure to bring prospective buyers to the park office for approval before the sale. If you’re interested in renting out your unit, you must request approval through our office.
Recreation
What kinds of on-site activities do you provide?
Our activities director (often referred to as “The Fun Lady”) ensures that during the winter season activities are ongoing every day and most nights, with terrific live entertainment options, too. Check our calendar for the latest. Some of our residents go back north just to get rested up after a season at Cross Creek!
What is there to do around the resort?
Golfing, fishing, boating, antique shopping and much more. Beaches and shopping districts are within an hour’s drive to Ft. Myers, Bradenton and Sarasota areas.
Guests
Can I host overnight guests?
Yes. We ask that you register all guests through our office. There is a minimal guest fee for each night they stay.
Can my guests stay for the season?
Requests for subleasing, roomers or renting of lots or units must be approved through the office.
Can my grandchildren join me at area activities when they visit?
Yes. Children under age 18 should be accompanied by an adult at all times when using any of the recreation facilities.
Can I bring my dog?
You bet! You are welcome to have your dog accompany you at your unit. Pets must be leashed outdoors and owners must clean up after them. Please note that pets are not allowed in any resort buildings or recreational areas. And management reserves the right to bar certain aggressive breeds—Pit Bulls, Dobermans or Rottweilers—from the resort.
Resident Responsibilities
Am I responsible for cleaning?
Yes. Our guest cleanup program helps us keep your costs down while maintaining an attractive RV and park model home resort. We ask that you keep your unit clean and free of dirt and mold and make sure your lot remains visually appealing.
How should I prepare my unit for the off-season?
Units left on site annually must be blocked up, tied down and under-skirted with vinyl (the only type of skirting we permit) within 15 days of setup.
Resort Safety
What’s the speed limit?
For the safety of our residents and visitors, we enforce a speed limit of 10 miles per hour throughout the entire Resort. Honestly, what’s the hurry?
Can we shoot fireworks on special holidays?
For safety reasons, we do not permit fireworks at Cross Creek Resort.
Does your swimming pool have a lifeguard?
No. Because our pool is unattended, it’s very important that children are accompanied by a resident at all times.
